LLOYDMINSTER – Update: RCMP say that in the early morning of May 31, 19-year-old Nicholas (Nick) Scott, the victim of an aggravated assault, succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday morning at City Hospital in Saskatoon. Following the result of the autopsy, said RCMP, additional charges are likely to be laid.
Original story: A male youth has been charged with aggravated assault after a shooting outside an apartment building in Lloydminster, Sask., around 10:38 p.m. on May 27.
RCMP say the victim has not yet been pronounced deceased and the Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. Cpl. Matthew Howell, public information officer for Alberta RCMP Media Group, told Â鶹ÊÓƵ.ca that if the victim passes away then there will be additional charges.
Lloydminster RCMP had responded and found the victim. Some officers immediately started life-preserving efforts while others searched for the suspect. EMS took over the efforts on the victim and transported him to the hospital. Cpl. Howell said the victim is an adult male.
The youth, who RCMP say is almost 18, was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear at the North Battleford Provincial Court on May 30.
Toni Bernard has confirmed with Â鶹ÊÓƵ.ca that the victim is now deceased and is 19-year-old Nicholas (Nick) Scott. Toni Bernard has started a gofundme page to raise money for his funeral expenses.
She said that he was an organ donor and has donated his organs and they are waiting for a final match.
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we have to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Nicholas.
At 19 years young Nick had an incredible impact on this world, and brought love and laughter to all of those who have had the pleasure to know him.
Nick was a shining light in all of our hearts
I am asking for those who are able to, to please donate what you can to help us reach the goal of $20,000.00
As many of you know Nick's Dad Jordy(my brother) is and always has been the sole provider for his beautiful family.
The funds raised will go directly towards funeral costs, and provide some assistance to the family so Jordy can take the time needed to be present as we grieve.
Thank you very much for the ongoing support and taking the time to read our story.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ.ca reached out to Alberta RCMP to confirm the victim is Nicholas Scott. They said they can't confirm that until additional charges are laid.
