Woman injured after firearm goes off during altercation

MONTREAL LAKE CREE NATION – Police are investigating a firearms-related incident where a woman was injured following an altercation between two people early Friday morning.

Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP say they received a report at approximately 5:20 a.m., on Nov. 24 of an injured person on Montreal Lake Cree Nation. They say that a firearm was discharged during the altercation, injuring the woman. She was treated in hospital for injuries described as serious.

Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP are actively investigating this incident. If investigation determines there is an imminent risk to public safety, they say they will notify the public.
