WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 84 calls for service during the period of Oct. 9 to 15, resulting in a total of 18 charges. Of the charges, 12 were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, four under the Traffic Safety Act (TSA), and one charge each under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act (AGRA). Of the 12 criminal charges, only two were in relation to individuals who either failed to attend court as required, or failed to comply with a condition of their release.
Police received a call early Friday morning from an owner advising that his truck was stolen from the driveway overnight. The owner further advised that his camera shows it was taken shortly before 4 a.m. The truck is described as a black 2018 Ford F150 Supercab, bearing Sask license plate 789MYN. This matter remains under investigation and anyone with knowledge regarding this matter is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service.
Very early Saturday morning, officers on patrol checked on the occupants of a vehicle resulting in one of the occupants being charged with possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, unlawfully having alcohol in a vehicle, and failing to comply with a condition of their release.
On Thursday evening, officers responding to a reported erratic driver came upon a two-vehicle collision moments later that involved the suspect vehicle. One driver was treated on scene by EMS personnel before being transported to the Weyburn General Hospital with minor injuries. Further investigation resulted in an adult male being charged with dangerous driving as well as impaired driving.
Early Friday morning, officers attended a residence at the request of removing an unwanted person. The matter was an ongoing domestic situation that involved physical abuse. As a result of further investigation, an adult male was charged with assault and released on conditions.
The Weyburn Police also responded to a variety of other calls including alarms, domestic disturbances, suspicious persons or vehicles, mental health concerns, requests to check on an individual’s well-being, harassing communications, and calls relating to animals, parking, or other bylaw concerns.
