MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM — On Feb. 13, members of the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) executed a traffic stop on the 1000 block of Stadacona Street East after discovering a suspected impaired driver.
The vehicle contained two individuals, a 44-year-old male who was driving, and a 22-year-old male passenger.
On suspicion of driving while impaired, police proceeded to perform a roadside examination using an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The test results came back negative.
After further investigation, police learned that the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that was reported stolen from Regina on Feb. 11.
Following this, the driver was searched. Police found 35.6 grams of methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $3,560, along with 67.3 grams of suspected fentanyl carrying an estimated street value of $5,384.
The passenger of the vehicle was also searched by police, who discovered a small amount of fentanyl on his person along with drug paraphernalia.
An additional 25 boxes of Pokemon and sports cards were discovered in the back seat of the vehicle, and police suspect that these cards had been stolen. The owner of the cards is unknown at this time.
As a result of the search, each man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and with possession of stolen property under $5,000.
In addition, the passenger has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
The driver has additionally been charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of failure to comply with an undertaking and obstructing a peace officer.
