BATTLEFORD – An Edmonton woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to accessory after the fact to the murder in the death of 20-year-old Damian Moosomin of North Battleford.

Stormy Wapass-Semaganis, now 25, was sentenced in Battleford Court of King’s Bench to time served and 12-months probation.

Wapass-Semaganis and five others were arrested in April 2021, a year after Moosomin’s body was found May 16, 2020, in the backyard of a property in the 1500 block of 105th Street in North Battleford. He had been reported missing to police on May 11, 2020.

There is a ban on publication until all accused have gone through the court system.

Jannay Blackbird, now 34, from Saulteaux First Nation, is back in Battleford Court of King’s Bench in November to face a charge of second-degree murder.

In May 2022, 25-year-old Tye Partridge from Moosomin First Nation was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

In October 2021, 36-year-old Denver Roy from Sweetgrass First Nation was sentenced to 300 days on a charge of improperly interfering with human remains.

Last year, charges of accessory after the fact to murder were stayed against Melissa Semaganis from Poundmaker Cree Nation and a youth who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Justice Criminal Act.
