SASKATOON — A call to Saskatoon police regarding a suspicious vehicle led to a drug trafficking arrest on Friday.
On Jan. 26 at approximately 1:30 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of 6th Street East for the report of a suspicious vehicle. The report stated the vehicle had been left running near a residence for several hours.
Upon arrival, says Saskatoon Police Service, officers discovered the registered owner had an outstanding Traffic Safety Act warrant and located a single occupant in the back seat of the vehicle. Officers also observed a large amount of cash and a number of small plastic bags throughout the vehicle.
The occupant of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, was arrested without further incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle recovered a large bag containing around 115 grams of cocaine, a rifle, several rounds of ammunition and other paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
Police say the 18-year-old man now faces charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and three firearm-related charges.
