REGINA – Regina Police Service Aerial Support helped officers track a suspect in a stolen vehicle and arrest a 32-year-old man.
On Nov. 13, at about 11:40 p.m., Regina police were dispatched to the area of 6th Avenue and Garnet Street for the report of suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was seen driving without headlights on.
Officers observed the vehicle, which was reported stolen to the RCMP in early November, and tried to pull the vehicle over in the area of Dewdney Avenue and Athol Street. The lone male driver accelerated and drove away. Police on the ground didn’t pursue the suspect.
The Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit observed the vehicle until it came to a stop on the 2200 block of Halifax Street, where the suspect exited. He was then arrested by police on the ground. He was charged with possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime and flight from a police officer.
He appeared in Regina court Nov. 14.
