RCMP Major Crimes charge man in a fatal hit and run in Northside

The driver of the fatal hit and run has been located and arrested.

A 34-year-old man from Paddockwood was struck and killed by a vehicle on April 4.

PRINCE ALBERT – Update: Following an investigation by Prince Albert RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, 64-year-old Reginald Durocher of Christopher Lake, was arrested on April 4 in relation to the death of Ryan Clark.

He has been charged with one count, first degree murder. He made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on April 6.

Original story: RCMP are investigating a fatal hit and run outside a business on Highway 2 in Northside. Police say that they got a call about a vehicle and pedestrian collision at about 8:30 p.m. on April 4. 

Police and EMS found an injured 34-year-old man from Paddockwood and EMS pronounced him deceased at the scene. His family have been notified but police say that since charges have not been laid, they are not releasing his name at this time.

The initial police investigation determined a vehicle struck the man and then fled. Prince Albert RCMP began patrolling to locate the vehicle. It was located in Little Red River at approximately 11 p.m. and the driver was later located and taken into custody.

Northside is about 34 kilometres north of Prince Albert. Little Red River is about nine kilometres west of Northside. 

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes have taken over the investigation. Police say that charges against the male are pending, their investigation continues, and they will provide updates when they are available.
