Prince Albert Police Service Crime Reduction Team seized drugs, cash and weapons following a cocaine trafficking investigation.

PRINCE ALBERT – Five men from Ontario have been arrested by the Prince Albert Police Service Crime Reduction Team following a cocaine drug trafficking investigation in the city.

The five men, Ibrahim Faisal Ahmed, Abdullahi Dirie, Abdullahi Hussein Elmi, Adbiaziz Abukar Mohamud, and El Faough Salih, made two appearances in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Feb. 5 and 6. They have all been remanded in custody until their next appearance on Feb. 14 for bail hearings.

On Feb. 1, police arrested three of the accused at a business in the 2600 block of 2nd Avenue West. There, they found a loaded handgun, 185.3 grams of cocaine, and $2,080 cash.

Later that day, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of 7th Street East. Before executing the warrant, they observed two men leaving the home and with help from Prince Albert Police Service Patrol section, the two men were arrested.

At the home, police seized $13,405 cash, a loaded handgun, a 30-round magazine for the handgun, 362.7 grams of cocaine, and additional evidence to support drug trafficking.

Ahmed, Dirie, Elmi, Mohamud, and Salih face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of the proceeds of crime, and multiple firearms offences.
