Man, 34, dies in Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre

Members from the Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Section were called out to investigate. Foul play isn’t suspected.

Saskatoon Police Service say they responded to the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre after getting a call late Saturday morning.

SASKATOON – A  34-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre late Saturday morning.

Saskatoon Police Service say they responded after getting the call and medical staff attended to provide care but he was declared deceased a short time later.

Members from the Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Section were called out to investigate, along with the Saskatchewan Coroner's Service. The cause of death is undetermined at this time but foul play isn’t suspected.

An autopsy is scheduled for a later date and his next of kin has been notified. Police didn't release his name. 

The Saskatchewan Coroner's Service will continue with their investigation.
