REGINA – Another delay in a case involving a Regina man facing child pornography charges will see the matter return next month.
After a raid by investigators from the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Regina Police Service VICE Unit in a home back on Aug. 24, 2022, Chance Longman, 22, was arrested. He faces five charges, including sexual assault and sexual interference; the making, distribution, and possession of child pornography.
Police seized several electronic devices during the raid, and the investigation continues.
In Regina Provincial Court this morning, Longman’s lawyer asked for a further adjournment, noting that he received additional disclosure on the matter on July 19. He added the plan is for the matter to go to case management on July 27, with an Aug. 17 return date in Regina Provincial Court to discuss release.
Judge M. T. Beaton confirmed the Aug. 17 date for Longman to return.
The Regina Children’s Justice Centre assisted in the investigation. The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
