Four facing drugs, weapons charges after Regina police bust

Two of the four have already appeared in court, say police.

REGINA – After a two-month investigation, three men and a woman are facing drug and weapons charges.

It all started with a traffic stop at around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 that yielded one suspect of interest to police.

"The male driver was taken into police custody without incident," said RPS in a media release. "In a search of the vehicle incident to arrest, officers recovered a loaded firearm, a quantity of illicit drugs and more than $16,000 in Canadian currency."

That same evening, police arrested a second suspect at a home in the 2600 block of Fifth Avenue.

"In a search following the arrest, officers located illicit drugs and Canadian currency on her person," RPS said.

A search warrant was executed later that night, at around 9:45 p.m. by the RPS Street Gang Unit in the 2000 block of McDonald Street.

"Two males inside the residence were taken into police custody and charged," RPS said. 

During a search of the home, police found two firearms with ammunition, over 850 grams of a substance police believe to be methamphetamine, 47 grams of MDMA, 48 grams of cocaine, and Canadian currency.

Randy Hollett, 41, was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in the vehicle, careless storage of a firearm, tampering with a serial number of a firearm, drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Amanda Rae Twardy, 35, was also charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, drug possession, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Luke Daniel Bagchi, 32, was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Kent Ryan Heise, 38, was charged with knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm, careless storage of a firearm, tampering with the serial number of a firearm, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime; two counts possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order; and three counts drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Heise and Hollett have already made their first appearances in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 28, while Twardy and Bagchi will appear on Oct. 12.
