PRINCE ALBERT – A dangerous offender hearing will be held May 23 and 24 in Prince Albert Court of King’s Bench for a man who pleaded guilty to child exploitation offences.

Troy Lester was arrested in June 2022 after investigators with the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Prince Albert Police Service executed a search warrant at a home identified where the offences were occurring.

Lester was charged with making child pornography and possessing child pornography.

He had elected to be tried by judge alone, but instead pleaded guilty on Jan. 25. He will be sentenced once the dangerous offender hearing has been completed. If Lester is designated as a dangerous offender, he could be kept in prison for an indeterminate period.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit consists of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
