UPDATE: March 18 -- Following the March 14 collision on Highway 1 near Lakeview Road, the 18-year-old female who was struck by a vehicle has been pronounced dead on the morning of March 18.
The female was transported from the Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw to a Regina hospital for further treatment, but succumbed to her injuries while in the Regina hospital.
The Moose Jaw Police Service has determined that the female was struck by a co-worker who was driving a company vehicle at a low rate of speed.
The victim's next of kin has been notified.
The accident remains under police investigation and no further comments were made at this time.
UPDATE: March 14 -- Highway 1's westbound lane between the Manitoba Expressway and Thatcher Drive East has reopened following a single-vehicle accident on Thursday morning
At roughly 9:16 a.m. on March 14, the Moose Jaw Police Service responded to an accident involving someone trapped under a vehicle on Highway 1 near Lakeview Road. Once on the scene, police determined it was a single-vehicle accident with a vehicle striking an individual.
EMS transported the person to the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital with serious injuries. At this time, the individual’s condition is unknown.
This accident is still under investigation.
Original story: The westbound lane of Highway 1 between the Manitoba Expressway and Thatcher Drive East will be closed until further notice.
The Moose Jaw Police Service, EMS, and the Moose Jaw Fire Department are currently on the scene of a single-vehicle accident.
It is anticipated that westbound travellers will be re-routed through the Manitoba Expressway. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
It is unknown at this time how long the area will be shut down.
