Bat-wielding Macklin man arrested for assaulting RCMP officers

MACKLIN – An intoxicated Macklin man armed with a bat is accused of assaulting police officers.

RCMP say they got a call from Provost, Alta, RCMP that a Macklin man was phoning their detachment and threatening the staff. Unity RCMP officers went to 50-year-old Jason Ross Tucker’s home who greeted them wielding a baseball bat and threatening to use it against an RCMP officer when he tried arresting him.

Police say Tucker went back into his house so Unity RCMP obtained a warrant to enter his home and arrest him. Tucker is accused of assaulting the arresting officers.

The officers apprehended him and took him to the RCMP jail cells. He was remanded in custody and his matter adjourned to Feb. 6. On that day, the judge remanded him again to appear on Feb. 8.

Tucker is charged with two counts of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and assault of a police officer.

The charges against Tucker haven't been tested in court.
