SASKATOON – A 22-year-old Prince Albert man accused of using a dating app to lure and rob a Saskatoon man at gunpoint, was back in Saskatoon court and his matter was adjourned to April 25 to enter an election.
Saskatoon Police Service say that a struggle had occurred between Kobe Edwin Allan Favel and the 36-year-old male victim he had met on a dating app, during which the gun went off, resulting in a minor injury to the victim. Favel then fled the scene with the victim's vehicle, bank card, phone, and the contents of his gun safe.
SPS say they found the victim in a parking lot in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 26, 2022. SPS used their Air Support Unit to locate the stolen vehicle, which they said they found attempting to hide on Grey Place. Favel was arrested without incident and was found to be in possession of MDMA and the stolen items.
Favel has been charged with armed robbery, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of MDMA.
According to court records, Favel was released following a show cause hearing in January and a bench warrant for his arrest was issued in February. He now remains in custody.
The charges against Favel haven’t been tested in court.
