Position Overview:
As a member of senior management and reporting to the Executive Director or designate, the Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services will be assigned a portfolio of responsibilities which will include assisting in the operation of adult mental health and addiction services, as well as responsibilities for knowledge and information management, specific internal and external liaison, special projects, policy development and reporting functions.
The Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services will assist in ensuring that services are provided using culturally relevant and evidence-based practice, and that services are delivered following the vision, mission, and core values of Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.
The Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services will work with the Senior Management Team and Managers in Mental Health and Addictions Services to ensure that services meet the requirements of legislation and service standards required by all funding bodies and levels of government, including the Ministry of Children community and social services (MCCSS), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ontario Health (OH), District Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB), and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). The Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services will develop and maintain effective working relations with managers, staff members and allied community service providers; assist with the development of policies and work plans; and other duties that may be assigned by the Executive Director or designate.
Qualifications and Requirements:
University degree in the field of Social Services: BSW or MSW preferred.
Candidates with a blend of relevant experience, training and education considered.
Current addictions counsellor certification an asset.
Minimum three years’ experience in mental health and addictions services programs management.
Minimum five years experience working in the substance health or mental health field.
Extensive leadership and administration experience, with demonstrated knowledge and skills in the areas of, information management, policy development, program management, accreditation, team building, research, supervision, and organizational development.
Proven ability to develop and lead strategies to address substance health issues at the community level.
Satisfactory Criminal Records Search.
Ability to respond to twenty-four (24) hour on-call service support requests from programs in this portfolio.
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s G License and have access to a personal vehicle.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
