LOCATION: Rankin Arena, 17 Batchewana St, Sault Ste. Marie, ON
SCHEDULE:
- Mondays & Thursdays and/or Tuesday & Wednesdays, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
- Up to 6 hours/week - December 2024 to April 2025
RATE OF PAY: $25 - $75 per hour (Rate to be determined based on qualifications)
EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately
The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) is seeking an On-Ice Hockey Skills Coach for the Hockey Academy Program at St. Basil Catholic Elementary School. HSCDSB is seeking someone who has an extensive background in hockey and coaching, combined with a passion for fostering positive sports experiences for young athletes.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Developing skills and knowledge
• Creating a safe and positive environment
• Planning practices and drills
• Communicate instructions clearly and in a way that is understandable for young players
• Foster teamwork and sportsmanship
• Improve fundamental hockey skills such as skating, passing, shooting, and puck control
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrate strong work ethic, patience, and passion for hockey
• Ability to work with children of varying skill levels, providing encouragement and understanding to all players
• Ability to plan and execute a variety of age-appropriate drills
• Encourage players to strive for their best, promoting confidence and a growth mindset
• Adapt coaching style to meet the individual needs of players
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
• National Coach Certification Program, Development 1
• National Coach Certification Program, Coach 1 & Coach 2
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Certified in the National Coach Certification Program, High Performance 1
• Coaching Experience
• Playing Experience
• National Coach Certification Program, Goalie 1
