Rob Hamilton and the team at Hearing Well Matters in Burlington have a passion for helping others hear well. And a passion for their community.

鈥淲e opened our state-of-the-art hearing clinic in February 2020, right before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns,鈥 explained Hamilton. 鈥淪o, that was pretty challenging for a business with a lot of senior patients. But since then, we have been dedicated to growing the clinic and helping our patients. We are all here for them.鈥

Hearing Well Matters is a family owned and operated, independent clinic, with two patient testing rooms and two hearing aid specialists. 鈥淚t鈥檚 convenient, if a couple wants to be tested at the same time, or friends, or we have a group in from a retirement home,鈥 said Hamilton. 鈥淲e also have free parking, we are an accessible facility, and we offer a free shuttle bus service as well.鈥

Hamilton explained that hearing can often be an undervalued sense. 鈥淲e don鈥檛 really remember how we heard when we were in our 20鈥檚 or 30鈥檚,鈥 he mused. 鈥淏ut untreated impaired hearing can lead to depression and social isolation, and has been shown to be linked with higher incidences of dementia and loss of cognitive ability. It鈥檚 a really important sense, and it needs to be taken care of.鈥

The team at Hearing Well Matters are big community supporters as well. Hamilton belongs to the Canadian Association of Retired People; the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club, where they sponsor an annual tournament; the Burlington Curling Club, where they sponsor the day ladies section; the Burlington Golf & Country Club, where they sponsor men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 leagues; and the Burlington Pickleball Association, where they are lead sponsors.

鈥淲e also support the Burlington Performing Arts Centre and Joseph Brant Museum,鈥 said Hamilton. 鈥淚n fact, the Joseph Brant Museum has an exhibit on right now, until the end of March, called 鈥淪ound, Just Sound鈥︹ and we provided a grant for that which allows seniors to attend the exhibit for half price. It fit nicely within our interests,鈥 he smiled.

Hearing Well Matters also brings hearing testing to the community, through onsite visits to area retirement and long-term care homes as well as other patients who can鈥檛 easily get out in the community. 鈥淲e offer free hearing tests to anyone born in 1983 or earlier, as well,鈥 said Hamilton.

鈥淲e really believe in supporting our community organizations, and the people in our community, through our business and our outreach,鈥 Hamilton completed. 鈥淚 have lived here for over 25 years, and I can鈥檛 say enough about what a great community Burlington is. It is an honour to help people here. Our over 200 5-star reviews on Google show that we are doing the right thing, too,鈥 he added. 鈥淚f you are wondering about your hearing, come on in and see us, today. We will make it a pleasant experience!鈥
