In a world where our children face growing pressures, it is more important than ever to foster their self-esteem and confidence. The arts, especially singing, offer a powerful way for children to develop these vital skills. Choirs, in particular, provide an exceptional environment where young voices can grow, not only musically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Participating in a choir allows children to build strong connections with their peers, developing skills in teamwork, empathy, and respect. Singing together under the direction of our Music Director Dr. Lina Li, teaches them the importance of listening and supporting one another, while also strengthening their ability to express themselves. These experiences help children learn to navigate social interactions and cultivate friendships that last a lifetime.
There is also extensive research showing the positive impact of music on our health, particularly its ability to strengthen the immune system. The emotional and physical benefits of singing are profound, and we saw just how deeply isolation affected children during the pandemic. Music and the arts offer a pathway to recovery, providing children with opportunities for growth, connection, and healing.
At Laureate College, we are excited to offer an incredible opportunity for children in our community to join the Burlington Children's Choir. This program is open to children from Junior Kindergarten through 2nd Grade, and will meet once a week at our new arts hub. We believe that every child deserves the chance to develop their full potential, and through dedicated arts and music programs, we are committed to helping them soar.
