KAMSACK - Kamsack RCMP frontline detachment officers seized 1.2 kilograms of cocaine during a recent traffic stop.

As the provincial police service, Saskatchewan RCMP has many specialized units that work alongside its frontline detachment officers. At the same time, its frontline detachment officers work to help take drugs and weapons off the street.

One example of this occurred back in December 2024 in the Kamsack detachment area.

On Dec. 10, 2024 at approximately 5 p.m., Kamsack RCMP officers received a report that drugs were being transported in the Kamsack area.

Kamsack RCMP responded, making patrols until they located the suspect vehicle. As a result of further investigation, officers arrested two adult males and an adult female at the scene without incident.

During subsequent investigation, officers located and seized approximately 1.2 kilograms of cocaine hidden in one of the vehicles, along with cellphones and cash.

A 29-year-old man, of Pelly, Sask., and 33-year-old woman, of Swan River, Man., were arrested and each charged with the following:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine; and
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

A 27-year-old man, of Lloydminster, was arrested and charged with one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

The 27-year-old and 33-year-old suspects appeared in provincial court in Kamsack on Jan. 14, 2025.

“Intercepting this volume of harmful drugs before they enter in our communities is a rewarding outcome for our officers, who work tirelessly on keeping our province safe,” said Staff Sgt. Geoff Stringfellow, Detachment Commander of Kamsack RCMP, in the news release. “By disrupting these criminal operations, we can keep dangerous substances off the streets.”
