SJHL Yorkton Terriers lose third-in-row

YORKTON - The old saying about what goes up must come down applies in hockey too.

After fashioning am eight game winning streak that started before the SJHL Christmas break and extended into the new year the Yorkton Terriers have now lost three-in-a-row.

The third loss – following back-to-back defeats in a home-and-home set with Weyburn was administered Saturday (Jan. 11) in Melfort.

The Mustangs started things as Logan Keup scored the only goal of the opening period.

It was all home-side in the second as well as the Mustangs scored three unanswered goals; Reilley Kotai, Brayden Westerlund and Ashton Hutchinson all finding the twine.

The Terriers finally got on the board 2:09 into the third, a powerplay effort Jeff Hammond.

Keup was back for his second of the contest to round out the scoring in a 5-1 Mustang win.

Callum Creig allowed all five goals in the Terrier net facing 31-shots.

Kristian Coombs was in net for Melfort facing 29-shots.
