Methamphetamine, unstamped tobacco seized in traffic stop

On March 12 at approximately 2 a.m., Wynyard RCMP officers arrested an adult male during a traffic stop on B Avenue in Wynyard in relation to an ongoing investigation.

WYNYARD - A Wynyard RCMP traffic stop resulted in drug and weapons charges being laid in Wynyard.

On March 12 at approximately 2 a.m., Wynyard RCMP officers arrested an adult male during a traffic stop on B Avenue in Wynyard in relation to an ongoing investigation.

During searches of the vehicle and following his arrest, officers located and seized 132 grams of methamphetamine, 162 grams of marijuana, brass knuckles, identification that didn’t belong to the male, drug paraphernalia and 19 packs of unstamped tobacco. Officers determined that the vehicle was stolen out of Calgary, Alta.

Alberta RCMP Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit assisted with this investigation.

As a result of investigation, a 51-year-old man, from Wynyard, is charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine;
  • one count, possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • five counts, possession of forged documents;
  • one count, removing/altering a VIN number;
  • one count, identity theft, section;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
  • one count, possession of cannabis to distribute;
  • one count, fail to comply with a probation order; and
  • one count, possession of unstamped tobacco.
