Flag raised for Veterans' Week

Veterans' Week runs from Nov. 5-11 and will feature several events around the city.

YORKTON – The Royal Canadian Legion General Alexander Ross Branch No. 77 kicked off Veterans' Week with a raising of their poppy flag.

Veterans' Week runs from Nov. 5–11 and several events are planned in the city including a candlelight service at the Cenotaph located at the junction of Second Ave. N and Darlington on Nov. 10 at 4:00 PM. Following the candlelight service, a laying of poppies will take place at the City Cemetery Veterans Plot at 5:00 PM. 

The week wraps up with a Remembrance Day Service at the Gallagher Centre Flexihall at 10:45 AM on Nov. 11.

As well, a screening of a documentary celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force is scheduled for tonight (Nov. 5) at 7:00 PM at the Yorkton Legion, 387B Parkview Rd.  The screening is free to all.
