YORKTON - The 2024 edition of the Farming for Health project is under way.

Wednesday, with Rocky Mountain Equipment, Yorkton providing the seeding equipment, 450 acres of City of Yorkton-owned land was planted north of Yorkton, adjacent to Grain Millers.

Ross Fisher, with the foundation, said the seeding is very much a community-supported fundraiser, with agronomic support, the canola seed, and the truck, all provided through donation.

The farming project has been ongoing for 13 years, and has raised $2.3 million.

The first one million has been set aside to help with the construction of a new regional health facility in city.

Since then funds have gone to purchase equipment, and provide other supports at the existing regional hospital in Yorkton.

The seeding operation was expected to be completed over two days.
