William "Bill" George Zimmer was born in Dubuc, SK on October 3, 1937, the son of Theresa and Anton Zimmer. Bill helped out on the family farm along with helping his dad do caretaking and making ice at the Bangor Curling rink for many years. At the age of 19, Bill got his first job, at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, building the elevator in Bangor, which was the first of many elevators that he helped build throughout Saskatchewan. In 1962, Bill started working at Morris Rod Weeder on the Assembly line, then moved to the punches and later became a Foreman and then Assistant Plant Superintendent. In 1963, he married Eloise (Kime) and they were blessed with two children, Brent and Tessa. After 34 years at Morris, he then went on to cut grass for the city and prior to his retirement he was the maintenance man, along with many other jobs, at Christie Hill Funeral Chapel. In his earlier years he was an avid ball player and enjoyed many years of curling and playing hockey. Bill enjoyed wood working, fishing, camping, tinkering in the garage, including all minor and major renovations to every house they lived in and spending time with friends and relatives. Bill was one of the original "Old Relic" hockey players in Yorkton, which continued on to being a season ticket holder for the Yorkton Terriers. He made a point of attending all the grandchildren's activities and having their favourite chocolate bar ready for intermissions or breaks at their games. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Theresa Zimmer; his sisters, Gertrude (Jim) Hustak, Mary (Joe) Bozsik, Martha (Steve) Herperger, Katherine Richards and Betty (Jack) Dycer; his brother, John Zimmer and father-in-law, Lewis Kime. Bill "Papa" will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Eloise; their children, Brent (Tracey) Zimmer and their daughters, MaKenna and Kendal and Tessa (Dwayne) Boal and their sons, Landon and Jacob. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, Irene (Jerry) Osmak; brother-in-law, Robert Richards and mother-in-law, Katherine Kime. Bill will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
