She worked as a Cashier Receptionist until she was united in marriage on August 9, 1943 to Elmer Wood. Stella arrived in Kenaston, SK on January 1945 as the 1st war bride in Kenaston. Elmer joined them in 1945 and they set up their first home in Melfort, SK. In 1949 they moved back to England and stayed until 1952 when they came back to Canada to live in Davidson, SK. Stella and her husband set up a mechanic business in Girvin, SK in 1956. Stella was very active in the community. She helped in chaperoning school activities, working on the church board, teaching Sunday school, being active in the choir and president of the United Church Women. They enjoyed many years as Square and Round Dance instructors, twice a month traveling to various communities Penzance, Holdfast, Liberty, Stalwart, Findlater, Tugaske and Lucky Lake, as well as Jamborees at Waskesiu and Kenosee Lakes. In 1971, they sold the business and moved to Melfort for a short 2 years where she worked as a hotel clerk in a local hotel. They moved to Yorkton in 1973 where Stella worked at the Yorkton Hotel.
