Orest Wintonyk. In loving memory of Orrie Wintonyk. Born August 28, 1927, Yorkton, SK. Passed away December 16, 2016 in Winnipegosis Health Centre, age 89. Orrie was predeceased by his wife, Helen (1986), daughter Marcia (1988) 3 sisters (Lenore, Ethel & Verna) brother Albert. He leaves behind granddaughter Kendra, 3 sisters, Mary, Violet & Ruth (Bob) & brother Robert (Su), and brother-in-laws Lloyd Barabash (Lynn) & Eugene Barabash (Margaret) and many nieces and nephews. He grew up on the family farm near Dunleath, SK, attended 1 room Eden School and the Yorkton Collegiate High. After various jobs - CPR Telegraph operator in various locations, mining in Keno, Yukon, he operated movie theatres in Swan River & The Pas, MB and Hope, BC. He enjoyed the outdoors - fishing and hunting, skiing with daughter Marcia, and held a private pilots license. He took pride in training his champion black lab dogs, competing in many field trails and also raising over $2,000 for Cancer research. He enjoyed travelling world-wide, including the birth place of his father in the Ukraine. Cremation has taken place. Internment to be beside his wife, Helen, at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Kelowna, BC.
