Edward Norman Wintonyk was born on July 25, 1944 in the Yorkton Hospital, Yorkton, SK. He was the son of Metro and Nettie (nee Perepeluk) Wintonyk. Edward received his education in the Chatsworth District. He had various jobs during his lifetime including truck driving and EMS Responder. He also worked for a short time at the mine and at Kleison's in Esterhazy. Edward loved doing carpentry work, upholstery, mechanics, cooking and farming. He was always wiling to help anyone with whatever they needed. Edward lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing ball and curling and especially enjoyed doing all these activities with his grandchildren. An avid gardener, Edward was famous for his pickles. He loved his pets and playing musical instruments. Edward belonged to the Hall Board Committee and was the bingo caller for Bredenbury and surrounding areas for many years. Edward leaves to join his first wife, Valerie, who passed away on August 30, 1995, whom he had five children with: Carmen (Daneen), Lorne (Tammy), Michael, Michelle (Darren) and Edward, Jr. (Tiny). As well as his children, Edward leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his wife, Shirley; her children, Sherry (David), Terry (Ellen); her five grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as his sister, Mary Rubiletz and his brother, Walter (Mary) and many other relatives and friends. Edward was also predeceased by his parents, Metro and Nettie; his brother, Mike; his sisters, Kaye and Anne. Edward was dearly loved by many, and will be dearly missed by all. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Daniel Moeller officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace"and "Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me". Fred Nicholson remembered his friend in tribute and eulogy. Friends from the Church of God in Christ Mennonite shared special musical selections. The interment followed in the Bredenbury Town Cemetery with Jamie Wintonyk, Jesse Wintonyk, Brett Wintonyk, Mitchel Wintonyk, Jessie Wintonyk and Kelly Hammond serving as casket bearers.
