Mrs. Mary Wenet of Yorkton, beloved wife of John Wenet passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2012 at 90 years of age. Mary was born June 8, 1921 on the farm which was located in the Beaver Dale district. She was the eldest of four children born to Frank and Annie (nee Pacholka) Zulyniak. In 1927, the family moved to the Plain View district where Mary completed her education. After she finished school, she stayed home to help with the chores on the family farm. She was very active and enjoyed playing softball with her being the only girl on the boys' team. She loved dancing and always looked forward to weekends with school and barn dances. She enjoyed her main chore on the farm which was milking cows by hand. She started at age 8 and milked until the age of 65. On October 12, 1955, Mary married John Wenet at St. Gerards Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. On June 20, 1957, their only child, Marlene Alice was born. They were very saddened when Marlene passed away in 1991 at an early age. John and Mary spent many hours helping their son-in-law, Brian Trebish, raise the two boys, Colby and Michael. Mary was a hard worker and worked side by side with John on the family farm in the Brewer District. Mary loved her family dearly and took pride in remembering everyone's birthday, not only of her immediate family but also the birthdays of siblings, nieces, nephews and her many friends. In 1986, John and Mary semi-retired and moved to Yorkton. Mary was an avid gardener and made sure all the plants were watered on time and weeds kept under control. She was also good at growing beautiful flowers and even won a few awards at the Yorkton Flower Show in her retirement years. She always said, she would much rather garden than cook! Mary thoroughly enjoyed spending hours at the hockey rink watching her grandsons play the sport they loved. She was their biggest fan. Mary was active in the church and was proficient in perogy making for church fundraisers. Mary was predeceased by her daughter Marlene, her parents, Frank and Annie Zulyniak, her brother, Mike Zulyniak, and her brother-in-law, Tony Ochitwa.
