Joyce Laura Mary (nee Brazeau) Wells passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was 66 years of age. Joyce was welcomed into the world on September 14, 1950, the daughter of Stanley Joseph and Mary Jane (nee Allary) Brazeau. She grew up on, as she always said, "what we referred to as the farm". Joyce, along with most of her siblings, attended Allary school which was very close to their home. She had a wonderful relationship with siblings, they enjoyed life together and were a support to one another. One of her favourite pastimes was playing the guitar with her siblings and friends. She always enjoyed good friends and good company. Other pleasures in Joyce's life were picking berries - Saskatoon and choke cherries, playing Yahtzee, playing cards - especially 31 and playing bingo. Joyce loved to garage sale and could not wait to turn the other way if she saw a sign advertising one. A true caregiver, Joyce enjoyed her work with home care. Joyce loved her family with all her heart and Christmas was her favourite time of the year. When she chose to settle down she called Theodore, SK her permanent home. She always made sure her kids had a place to call home. Joyce was predeceased by her Dad, Stanley Joseph Brazeau and her twin sister, in infancy. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Garnet Wells; her three children, Bryan Venne, Devona Venne (Rob) and Lance Wells; her grandchildren, Bradley Venne and Chad Venne; her mother, Mary Jane and siblings, Roy Brazeau (Alerena), Lynda Fast, Lloyd Brazeau (Terri), Lorne Brazeau, Beverly Engle, Lyle Brazeau (Regina), Debbie Brazeau, Robert Brazeau (Clara), Sandra Brazeau (Gary) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. We will always remember Mom's favourite quote, "call a spade a spade". Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton, SK with Father Francis Hengen officiating. The readers were Devona Venne and Charlene Harasyn and the cross bearer was Chad Venne. The pianist, Sharon Gerspacher and members of St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church Choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Be Not Afraid", "Psalm 63", "Prayer of St. Francis", "On Eagles's Wings", "Song of the Angels" and "Amazing Grace". The casket bearers were Kevin Engle, Bradley Venne, Owen Lafontaine, Blaine Flamont, Charles Engle and Keon Flamont. A private family cremation committal will take place at a later date.
