Annie Wasylyshen of Yorkton, SK and formerly of Gorlitz, SK, passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on June 24, 2012, at the age of 96 years. Annie was born on February 27, 1916, to Prokop and Polly (Luchka) Yakiwchuk in the Burgis District. As a young girl, Annie attended the Poplar Springs School. After she was done her schooling, she worked on the family farm. On July 13, 1935, Annie was united in marriage to Mike Wasylyshen and they were blessed with three daughters. Following Mike's passing, Annie remained living on the farm for four years, before she sold the land and moved to Jubilee Crescent in Yorkton, SK. Annie enjoyed reading, gardening and taking trips to Calgary. She also loved playing cards with friends and relatives; she was a wonderful cook and baker as well. Annie was predeceased by her parents, Prokop and Polly; her husband Mike; her sister Mary Zawerucha and her son-in-law Bill Koshman. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Violet Koshman of Ebenezer, Mary Anaka (Don Chupa) of Yorkton, SK and Iris (Randy) Bowen of Calgary, AB; her brother Bill (Mary) Yakiwchuk of Yorkton, SK; her twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. The Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, held from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, Canora with Very Rev. Fr. Mel Slashinsky officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Yorkton Regional Health Centre as tokens of remembrance in memory of Annie.
