Jean Washenfelder, a compassionate, caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all, passed away peacefully at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Born to Rose and Fred Cumming, she was the ninth child of thirteen siblings born at Springside, SK. Jean had a passion for life. She was a dedicated employee with Pinders Drug Store for many years and excelled in sports, especially curling. In 1970 her team won the Curling Championship in Germany where her husband, Dave, was teaching. Humble about her own achievements, she was proud to talk about the success of her family. A kind and gentle person, she always saw the best in people and had a smile for everyone. She had a twinkle in her eyes and a remarkable sense of humor. She is predeceased by her husband, David; son, Murray; and eleven siblings. Left to celebrate her life is her daughter, Jeanette (Don) Colburn; sister, Georgina Beatty; daughter in law, Marlene Washenfelder; grandchildren, Chantelle and Ryan Washenfelder, Greg (Sophie) Colburn and Sandra (Leon) Youngchief; great grandchildren, Bobbi-Jo and Cash Colburn, Preston, Desmond, Candice, Noah, Larrissa, Alisa, Kerian and Isabella; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:30p.m. from Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon) with Rev. Fr. Robert Colburn officiating.
