Arnold Clifford Vickers was born in Bredenbury, SK on December 5, 1927, son of Harry and Hester (Parkinson) Vickers. Arnold attended school in Bredenbury. He worked on the family farm and then began trucking. He spent many years behind the wheel. Arnold then started working for the Thorsness Hardware doing plumbing and heating and then continued to work there as their repair man until he retired. When he was 50 years old he got his pilot's license - he loved to fly! Arnold also loved to hunt and fish and spent lots of time with family and friends at the fishing trailer North of 54. Arnold had an ear for music - he played the accordion for many dances. He never had a lesson but could play anything by ear - a true gift. Arnold loved hockey. He played for the Bredenbury Cougars, spent many years as the Cougar Trainer and was a dedicated Cougar fan until his passing. On July 27, 1949 Arnold married Shiela Riddy. They lived in Bredenbury and raised a family of four: Lloyd, Sandy, Joe and Kathy. Arnold was predeceased by his parents Harry and Hester Vickers, his in-laws Albert and Phemie Riddy, his sister Donalda and brother-in-law Alan Schuster, brother-in-law Ross Riddy, sister-in-law Charlotte Becker and his son Lloyd Vickers. Arnold leaves to mourn and celebrate his life his wife of 68 years, Shiela, daughter-in-law Bev Vickers, daughter Sandy (Kent) Ritchie, son Joe Vickers, daughter-in-law Bonnie Vickers and daughter Kathy (Grant) Jacob. His grandchildren Wayne Vickers, Steven (Wenda) Ritchie, Adam (Amanda) Ritchie, Sara (Jay) Barber, Chris (Julie) Vickers, Scott Vickers, Andrew (Samantha) Vickers, Katelyn (Brett Bjarnason) Vickers, Colby Jacob and Ty Jacob, as well as twelve great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law Alex (Sylvia) Riddy, sister-in-law Pauline Riddy and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Town of Bredenbury for the Bredenbury Community Rink.
