Ed, April 5, 1935 - November 27, 2011, aged 76 years was born on the family farm west of Yorkton to Joseph and Katie (Burant). He grew up there with seven siblings. He quit school after grade 8 to enter the work force and held a number of positions, mostly in the Yorkton area. On June 21, 1958 he was united in marriage to Arlene (nee Kobitz) also from the Yorkton area. Shortly thereafter they bought some land and built their own home in the Seradaville area west of Yorkton. Their only child Edward was born April 17, 1963. During this time he worked for Imperial Oil in Yorkton and in 1967 decided to purchase his own Esso bulk fuel dealership in Kamsack. The family moved there that year. He and Arlene started out with one fuel truck and gradually expanded the business attributable to their hard work and dedicated staff. Over the years, they added bulk fertilizer sales, another bulk fuel dealership in Togo and anhydrous ammonia business between Veregin and Mikado. During the busy season he would often be found working 5:00 a.m. to mid-night or beyond. His son started working with him full time in 1988. During this time Ed nstilled his core values of hard work, honesty, and respect upon him. In 1992 he decided to retire and sold out after 25 years in the business. He and Arlene bought a cabin at Madge Lake and spent their summers there. At this time he developed a special bond with his close neighbors at the lake and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed fishing and tinkering in his shed and his time spent with Arlene. He also enjoyed his numerous harvests helping the Bobyk brothers. The winters were spent in Kamsack where he was often helping out his neighbors; the only time he ever sat still was when he was reading his favorite western novel, or doing a jigsaw puzzle. Ed's wife and family were always very important to him. He always put them at the forefront and gave them everything he could. His last words to Arlene were "you and Eddie are the love's of my life". He entered the Kamsack Hospital Wednesday, November 23 and was subsequently transferred to Regina General Hospital where he passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 due to a ruptured aneurysm. He was predeceased by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Ed leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Arlene and son, Edward (Loretta) of Norquay, her children Jason (Karen) of Norquay and Tracy of Saskatoon, his brother, Adolph (Ethel) of Yorkton, brother-in-law, Harley Kobitz of Delhi, Ontario, sister-in-law Elva (Ernie Kostersky) of Lethbridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
