Ken Tunnicliffe, beloved husband of Olga passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 85 years of age. Ken was born at Windthorst, SK on December 4, 1926, son of Sam and Minnie Tunnicliffe. Following a rapid fire on the farm in 1929 the family moved to Yorkton. Ken received his elementary education at Burke School and his High School education at the Yorkton Collegiate. During the summer school breaks and when harvesting season would arrive, Ken would find employment with local farmers, spending hours stooking and threshing. He also worked for SaskTel during semester breaks. On August 9, 1952 Ken was united in marriage to Olga Demchuk and their marriage has been blessed with a son Wayne Kenneth and a daughter Carla Ann. After graduating from High School Ken was employed with the Saskatchewan Brewers Association. In 1958 he began working for Sask Power, where he worked until his retirement in 1985. Upon his retirement the couple purchased a motorhome and for nine consecutive years spent a couple of months each winter in Mesa, AZ. In May of 1993 Ken and Olga took a trip to England where they were able to meet for the first time a lot of Ken's relatives. For their 25th anniversary they went to Hawaii, enjoyed that holiday so much, they went back a couple of more times. Ken was a goalie for the Yorkton Legionaire Hockey Club for several years, he was also involved in youth hockey and did some coaching. Ken loved all sports: hockey, bowling, fishing, hunting and camping with the family. He especially enjoyed the fall season as he loved to go hunting for geese and deer. Ken had been a member of the Yorkton Lions Club for many years and also served as Treasurer. He received his Perfect Attendance in 2001. He even attended meetings at other Clubs when he had been on holidays. During the summers of 1996/97/98 Ken and Olga did volunteer work as Campground Hosts at Good Spirit Lake. Ken leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 and a half years. Son Wayne (Robin) of Edmonton, and their children Erin, RandiMarie and Kelli Lynn. Daughter Carla Ann of Regina and her children Dallas and Colton. Sister-in-law, Victoria Weinberger of Kelowna and sister-in-law Lena Panchuk of Yorkton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, plus his beloved Chihuahua dog Kelly, who always managed to brighten his days. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Minnie; a sister Cemont; a sister June and husband John Pister, sister Doreen and husband Harold Ballantyne; brother Ray and his wife May; and by his grandson Michael. Honoring Ken's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
