Stella May Tourand was born on the family homestead near Brightside, SK. on April 23, 1924, the seventh of nine children born to Jay and Phoebe (nee Newberry) Harrison. She attended Walwart school as a child. At an early age, she began working as a hired girl to help her family financially. Stella had to quit one such job as her employers refused to let her go to the show with her beau. In 1941, Stella married that same beau, Laurence Tourand. Shortly after they were married, Laurence enlisted in the army and was sent overseas to serve in World War II. Stella and Laurence lived in St. Front, SK. when they were first married. They later moved to Saskatoon, Yorkton, Ebenezer, Endeavour and back to the Yorkton area. Together, they enjoyed many fishing trips and card games with family and friends. After Laurence passed away in 1975, Stella moved to Ebenezer. She joined the Ebenezer Golden Agers where she enjoyed visiting and playing games with many friends. Stella loved to play shuffleboard at the Senior's Centre and has many trophies to confirm her talents as a player. Stella also enjoyed bingo when she was younger. She loved to spend time with her family, visiting and playing card games like cribbage, canasta and her newest favorite, Texas Hold 'Em. Later in life, she liked to go to the Casino with her children and other family members and always shared her winnings. A kind and loving person, there was just something about Stella that made those around her feel safe and loved. Stella was predeceased by her parents; seven sibling and their spouses; one son, in infancy; her husband, Laurence in 1975; her son, Danny in 2007 and her son-in-law, Glenn Anstey in 2007. Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughter-in-law, Donna (and family, Kevin & Janice - Lisa, Jackie, Nancy); sons, Keith & Charlene (and family, Chad - Zach, Cory & Lisa, Angela & Shane - Haley, Rhys) and Calvin & Brenda (and family, Mason, Dylan); her daughters, Elaine & Jerry Frankfurt (and family, Danette & Troy - Samantha, Parker, Shawn & Tiffany - Hunter, Cole), Sylvia & Lorne Tratch (and family, Doug & Tanja, Amy & Karl - Gianna, Tyler & Candice - Mykala), Azalea & Garry Debienne (and family, Michelle & Kevin - Ashley, Charissa, Damara, Theresa & Darren - Kaden, Kyler, Chris, Nicole & Carter), Kathy Anstey (and family, Kelly & Tom - Taurean, Brielle, Rory & Hailey), Fay Kowal & Al Wionzek (and family, Brandi, April - Charli, Braden), Bonny (and family, Mack, Emmy), Shelly & Mark McGeough (and son, Spencer); her sister, Irene Butt as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
