On Monday, April 16, 2012, Jacob Streck passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 84 years of age. Jacob was born on June 9, 1927 at Rhein, SK. son of Eva (nee Stricker) and Jacob Streck Sr. As a young man he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Upon his discharge in 1954 he returned to Yorkton and was a skilled tradesman in carpentry. In 1959, he was working in Midale, SK building a new school and happened to meet a young lady by the name of June Marie Miller. They were united in marriage on June 7, 1960. The family relocated to Yorkton where Jack was employed with Logan and Black. In 1964 he took a position as a Construction Supervisor at CE Section CFS Yorkton. During this time Jack began building a home for his family, so after a long day's work Jack would come home and continue with the construction of his own home. In the fall of 1968 the house was completed and Jack proudly moved his family into their new home. Jack and June resided in this "new" home for the last 44 years and his family will continue to make memories in the house that "Jack Built". He gave 22 years of service to the Best Cadin Pinetree Radar Station's final tenure of it's operational life. He retired in July of 1986. Too young to retire, Jack spent more that five years with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He also enjoyed woodworking and making the most beautiful pieces for the family to enjoy and treasure. Jack's greatest joy was spending time with his family and had a special place in his heart for each and every one of them. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, June; son, Terry (Wanda) and their children Aaron, Jenna, Brandon and Landon; daughter, Candace (Sid) and their children, Nolan and Shelby; daughter, Connie (Cliff) and their children, Braeden and Brooklyn of Regina, SK; son, Larry (Cindy) of Saskatoon, SK. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, James Miller of Kingston, ON and sisters, Leah and Eleanor of Winnipeg, MB as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Eva Streck; brothers, Henry, David, Englehart, Victor and Billy Streck and sisters, Frieda, Mary, Mollie and Emilie. The family would like to thank Dr. Daunt, Dr. Jamil and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion. Thanks to the Veteran's for conducting Legion Funeral Rites and to everyone at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for their support.
