Margaret Mary Anne Stachura (Gress) was born on September 3, 1934 to George and Anne (Kormos) Gress on the family farm near Otthon, SK and was the second of five children. In 1936 the family moved to a farm near Bangor, SK where Margaret attended school. In 1952 the Gress family left their farm in Bangor to move to Yorkton, SK where Margaret worked at various jobs. It was in Yorkton, at a dance, that she met the love of her life, Edmond Stachura, also from Yorkton. They were united in marriage on July 23, 1956. This past summer they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at York Lake with family and friends. Edmond and Margaret spent their lives farming in the Pebble Lake district. They were blessed with seven children. In 1993, they moved to Yorkton, but continued farming. They continued to live in their home until, due to failing health, Marge was hospitalized in November, 2016. She passed at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Mom was a devoted wife and caregiver to Dad, who now resides at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. Margaret thrived in her role as a farmer's wife, raising a family and doing daily chores. She loved cooking, baking and gardening. She was an avid gardener until very recent years and took pride in her yard and flowers, even having two large gardens for some time. Her family and friends remember how much they enjoyed her cabbage rolls, bread, buns, doughnuts and cookies. Outside of the home, Margaret was active in her community, as a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and as a member of the Pebble Lake Busy Bee club for most of her life. She enjoyed socializing, dancing and playing cards with friends and family. Margaret's passion was caring for her family. She loved her family deeply and was a generous and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her warm heart and giving nature made all feel welcomed and special. She had her own sense of humour that brought a smile to our faces. She was the patchwork that held our family together. Even when her life got increasingly more difficult she rarely complained and would assure us she was fine, typically making it easier for her family. She had few wants and always cherished family get-togethers, stories or pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always appreciative of every visit and for even the smallest of things we did for her. Her family and friends will always remember how much they enjoyed her good company, her stories, her laughter, her good food and her generosity. She will be remembered most for her faith, her love and her strength. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, George and Anne, her brothers, Albert and George, her sister-in-law, Janet Gress and her niece Kathy Kotzer. She will be missed and forever remembered by her husband of 60 years, Edmond and her loving children, Joyce (Garry) and their children, Charles, Jerry; Tom (Florence) and their children, Kendra, Deandra, Amber, Devery, McKenzie, Jed; Ralph (Lynn) and their children, Kristine, Brittany; Earl (Kelly) and children, Becky, Colby, Sheena, Zoe; Janice (Dean) and their children, Sarah, Megan; Donna and her children, Brittany, Brianna, Brielle, Brayden; Jennifer (Joss) and their children, Jada, Kai and 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn, her sister Dianne (Gary) Laycock, her brother, Arnold Gress, sisters-in-law, Rose Gress and Edith Kotzer and brother-in-law Joe (Chris) Stachura and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
