Mr. Andrew "Andy" Spelay of Yorkton entered eternal life on August 21, 2016. He was 80 years of age. Andrew was born August 13, 1936 in the Whitesand District. He attended Beblo School for the early years then continued in Yorkton at St. Joseph's College. Upon graduation he worked in the oil fields for a short time before pursuing a career as a masonry tradesman which he enjoyed for 40 years. Andy was devoted to family and close friends, always lending a ride or a hand to someone. He especially assisted with caring for our aging parents until the end of their lives. He enjoyed family events, gardening, the family farm, daily walks and getting together with friends. Andrew is predeceased by his father Metro (1997), his mother Mary (2005), brother-in-law Ernie Wozney (2007) and nephew Ernie Dombrowski Jr. (2015). He is survived by one brother George (Rose) Spelay, five sisters, Eleanor Wozney, Sylvia (Paul) Beblow, Olga (Ben) Kotyk, Vivian Dombrowski, Elizabeth Spelay and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Peter Kobylka, Lorne Stechyshyn and choir members. The epistle reader was Sherry Beblow and the cross bearer was Elizabeth Spelay. The interment took place in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Whitesand District with Claude Kotyk, Wes Kotyk, Rick Kotyk, Peter Wozney, Jodi Lehmond and Nathan Montgomery serving as the casket bearers.
