SOYKA - Norbert was born on the family farm, the 9th of 10 children. He got his education at Landshut and Langenburg schools. He worked on the family farm with his brother Leonard for many years while he purchased more land. He enjoyed working on the land and with his cattle. In later years he enjoyed the garden. He sold his land in 2013 due to ill health. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Edward, sisters, Ann Soyka and Rita Myrowsky and nephew, Kevin Myrowsky. Also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Harold Schultz and Donald Mitten. Surviving are his brothers, Leonard and Daniel (Lynne), sisters, Theresa Schultz, Eleanora Mitten, Martha (Donald) Neumeier and Liz Zimmer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers were said, Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. from the St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church, Yorkton with Mary Bybliw presiding. Lector Nicole Bolen and accompanist was Lorraine Lysak. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Louis Kim Nguyen officiating, with Lectors Michelle Squires and Lori Mitten, accompanist Chris Fisher and cross bearer Tamara Haberstock. Interment was in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Brian Schultz, Terry Schultz, Shawn Mitten, Colin Mitten, Dean Myrowsky and Jerrad Zimmer.
