It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sheila Schmidt of Yorkton on December 16, 2016. She was 78 years of age. Sheila May Schmidt was born on Sept 6, 1938 in Moose Jaw, SK. While working at Ashdown's Hardware in Regina, she met and later married the love of her life Wally Schmidt on June 7, 1958. During their 58 years of marriage, Sheila and Wally resided in various towns in Saskatchewan while raising their 4 children until settling in Yorkton where she worked alongside Wally operating their Refrigeration business. During this time Sheila discovered her love of assisting others and socializing with her many friends during her tenure with the Royal Purple. Whether it be providing car infant seat rentals to young families or collecting donations for youth wheel chairs, Sheila was passionate in any endeavour she set her mind to. Sheila's zest for life and enjoyment had no boundaries; from needle point to knitting, playing cards with Darren & Barb or even playing Mario Brothers on the kids' Nintendo. Sheila often spoke of her love of the travels she and Wally took over the years with family and friends; whether Holland or Hawaii - Yuma to Epcot, Sheila enjoyed all cultures and experiences. Sheila was predeceased by her parents, her son Darren, brother Garry and son-in-law Rodney Byblow. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Wally and her children; sonBrad (Wendy), their children Kyle (Jana) of Yorkton, SK and Adam of Yorkton, SK; daughter Lori (Melvin Hnidey) their children Curtis (Lynda) and their children Gianna & Brendan of Crossfield, AB; Mitch (Karlie) and their son Hudson of Springside, SK; Kim of Edmonton, AB; daughter-in-law Barb and her children Raeghan and Dylan of Weyburn, SK and son Brett (Sherry) and their children Connor and Calista of Airdrie, AB. A special thank you to Yorkton and district home care, all the staff at Yorkton ICU and Dr. Van Heerdan who all blessed our mom with their care, love and friendship. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Jen Dresser of St. Andrew's United Church officiating.
