SARANTOPOULOS - Peter was born on September 11, 1942 in a small town in Â鶹ÊÓƵern Greece called Pilos to George and Helen (nee Sumas) Sarantopoulos. Peter has three brothers and one sister. From an early age Peter showed signs of being adventurous. Peter enjoyed visiting different places, seeing new things and meeting new people. Peter was a kind, caring and generous man with a very big heart. He had the personality that seemed to make a person be near him. After Peter completed his mandatory service in the Greek Army he emigrated to Canada in 1968. Upon arrival in Canada, Peter was fascinated by the beauty and diversity of Canada. He spent time in his younger years working in the Yukon, Winnipeg and Saskatchewan in the mining camps. Then he moved to British Columbia, got married and owned a restaurant in White Rock close to the ocean. His most memorable and happy time during this period of his life was when his beloved parents came to visit. It was the first time they had been outside of Greece. After his marriage ended, he moved to Saskatchewan. It was in 1991 that he met the love of his life, Patricia Osborne while he was working for the Lobster Trap Restaurant in Yorkton. Peter and Patricia hit it off quite well and were described as "two kids in a candy store". They were united in matrimony in Saskatoon on October 25, 1992. Peter was very happy to be able to take Pat to Greece on vacation for an entire month. They toured the Parthenon, attended soccer games, which Peter loved to watch, showed Pat where he grew up and introduced her to all of his family in Greece. Peter lived, worked and owned restaurants in numerous locations in Canada; Wilkie, Grenfell, Churchbridge, Kamsack and others. It was through these places that Peter made many life-long friends along the way. However, Churchbridge was the one place that Peter and Pat truly felt at home. The friendships they made while living there were very memorable for Peter. Peter is predeceased by his parents, George and Helen; his beloved wife, Patricia; one brother, Kosta; one sister-in-law, Irene; his stepson, Brent and one step-grandson, Jordan. Peter leaves to celebrate his life his brothers, Gregory and Leo (Sara); sister, Maria (Nick) Saratsiotis; his sister-in-law, Voula; his step-daughter, Brenda and countless nieces, nephews and friends. A graveside memorial service and interment of cremated remains was held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the Garden of Memories in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Ltd. with Jason E.
