The family are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Ellen Ruth Large on December 12 , 2017 at Sherbrooke Community Centre in Saskatoon. Ruth was born November 21, 1924 in Yorkton to Wesley and Edith Neelin. She attended school in Yorkton, then trained as an RN at Yorkton General Hospital. She worked as a nurse until she married the love of her life, Harley Large, in 1950 and  together they raised 3 daughters, Cheryl, Wenda and Barbara. Ruth was a devoted and caring mother, expert knitter and bridge player and fabulous cook. Harley liked to say that her rhubarb pies had "won several international competitions"! She was also a founding member of the Yorkton Beta Sigma Phi and was a dedicated member for over 50 years. She and Harley instilled a deep love of music in their children and she was a champion for whatever need, large or small, that might arise in her family. They lived in Yorkton until 2012, then they moved to Saskatoon, first to Preston Park II and then to Sherbrooke Community Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Doreen Grazier; brother, Alan Neelin and her beloved husband, Harley. She is survived by her sister, Mavis (Donn) Willis; daughters, Cheryl (Norm) Fraser, Wenda (David) Saganski and Barbara Large (Gordon Holinaty); grandchildren, Kevin (Meghan) Saganski, Carla Holinaty (Nathan Vanthuyne), Colin (Kaleigh) Saganski, Laura (Ryan) Prestupa, Jeffrey (Sarah) Saganski, Stephen (Rae) Holinaty and great-grandchildren Jack, Liam, Maggie, Callie, Owen, Claire and Alice and another due in February. A Celebration of Ruth's life was held Monday, December 18 at 1:30 pm at McClure United Church (4025 Taylor St. E.).
