Wilfred Reeves passed away at Yorkton & District Nursing Home on November 13, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Wilfred was born on October 22, 1926 on the family farm (15-30-10-W2, in the R.M. of Beaver), in the Sheho district of Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mabel (Klippenes) Reeves and by his partner Ella Tillman and her daughter Connie, as well as a brother-in-law Verner Norman. Wilfred is survived by four siblings and their families, brother, Wesley Reeves of Springside, SK; sister, Dorothy (Fred) Shiplack of Regina, SK and their four children, Joanne, Sharon, Kevin and Diana; sister, Marion Norman of Blairmore, AB and her three children, Danita, Darcy and Laurie; brother, Richard (Marie Ann) Reeves of East St. Paul, MB and their four children John, Carol, Laura and Heather. Wilfred began work at the age of 16 at the synthetic rubber plant in Sarnia ON. He also held jobs in such places as Winnipeg, Victoria and Northern Ontario. After settling at Springside, he worked for Gabe Torgerson, Martin Arndt and Springside Co-op as a mechanic. He farmed in the Springside district from the mid 1950's until he retired in 1998. After retirement Wilfred enjoyed traveling across Canada, notably with friend Jim Varga, until he was disabled by illness in 2005. Wilfred was a long time member of the Springside branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. A Service in Celebration of Wilfred's life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Springside Town Hall. Memorials in memory of Wilfred may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Royal Canadian Legion or to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home as gifts of remembrance. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral and Cremation Services.
