Mary Raddysh

The family of Mary Raddysh sadly announces her passing at the Yorkton Nursing Home on May 24, 2017. Mary was born on her family farm near Insinger, SK on January 22, 1930. She was the daughter of the late George Hnatuik and Elena Protsak who immigrated to Canada in the early part of 1900. She was the seventh child born into a family of 6 brothers. In 1949 she married Nick Raddysh where they farmed the Raddysh homestead north of Theodore until retirement. They then moved to Theodore in 1976. Mary was a great cook and baker. Her perogies, nachynka and butter tarts were a family favourite. When she was younger Mary loved to knit, crochet, decorate wedding cakes, curl, pick mushrooms and tend to her vegetable and flower garden. Barbering even became one of her pastimes when Theodore was without a hair shop. She helped raise purebred Hereford cattle and found time to sing in the Lysenko church choir. She was secretary-treasurer of the Theodore Ukrainian Ladies Aid. Mary leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life to her son Conrad (Tyra) of Yorkton and her daughter Pat (Martin) Kerelchuk of Brandon, MB, grandchildren Kyle Raddysh (Andrea) of Yorkton, Karly (Jason Morrell) of Saskatoon, Keri (Jeff Sawchuk) of Brandon, MB, Colin Kerelchuk (Jenn Miller) of Brisbane, Australia, Kim (Grant Andruchuk) of Winnipeg and five great-grandchildren Cassie, Chase, Sylvia, Cohen, Lila, Gabe. Mary was predeceased by her parents George in 1973, Elena in 1964, her husband Nick in 2007 and brothers Bill, Steve, Andy, Nick, John & Wally. The family would like to thank all of the people who were part of Mary's life and kept her in their prayers. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Mary was a loving mother and friend. We only wish when you left us you knew how much we cared. Prayers were Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Theodore Rec Centre with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church officiating. The cantor, Yvonne Panchuk led in the singing of the responses. The interment followed in the Theodore Village Cemetery with Conrad Hnatiuk, Randy Hnatuik, Wayne Zastrizny, Barry Bilokrely, Milt Raddysh and Larry Malinowski serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Mary may be made to the Whitesand Regional Park. Condolences can be sent to the family at . Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory!
