The family enjoyed many summers at cottages on the Brokenhead River and Long Lake. During this time she continued her nursing career and became Nursing Administrator at Tache Hospital. After the family was grown, they retired in Theodore where she served several terms as mayor. After Ken's passing in 1988 she continued to enjoy gardening and golfing and became an active member of the Theodore Seniors. In 1993 she married Byron Benjamin. Together they enjoyed many winters in Yuma, Arizona golfing and dancing. Byron passed away in 2007.
