PHIPPS - George Charles Phipps. August 20, 1956 - August 7, 2017. It is with profound sadness that the family of George Phipps announce his passing on August 7, 2017 at the Regina Pasqua Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer, just two weeks shy of his 61st birthday. George was predeceased by his mother, Mary Phipps (1995) and his father, Charles Phipps (1998). He is survived by his brother, David Phipps; sisters, Emilie Havelock (Ian) and Charlotte McMurchy (Ron); nephews, Ben Havelock, Matthew Phipps and Philip McMurchy; nieces, Dayna Phipps and Sabrina McMurchy as well as numerous other relatives and friends. George grew up on the family farm near Marchwell, SK and later moved to Langenburg, SK. After leaving school, George trained as a mechanic and worked for several years in Yorkton, SK. George then gained employment at the Esterhazy Potash Mine where he worked for over 40 years. He will be missed by the many friends he made through his work there. Rest In Peace Brother. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 14, 2017 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Shelly Morris officiating. A special taped music selection of "Brothers" by Dean Brody was played at the service. Following a luncheon in the Gunn Reception Room at Christie's Funeral Home, the Interment Service took place in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery near Marchwell, SK. The casket bearers were Matthew Phipps, Philip McMurchy, John Bear, Lloyd Gail, Garnet Putland and Benjamin Havelock.
