Shirley Dawn Pede

It is with great memories and much sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Dawn Pede on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 79 years of age. Shirley was born February 6, 1937 in Canora, SK; the daughter of Don and Ida Davis. As the second oldest of nine children, she had wonderful childhood memories. She cherished growing up in such a strong, loving and fun family. She and Orville were united in marriage and together raised five children. Shirley's life revolved around her family. They kept her busy not only at home but also through volunteering with the Girl Guide and Scouting movements. Shirley was creative, she enjoyed doing crafts and sharing her baking (her lemon torte will be missed!). Reading was one of her favourite pastimes. Spending time with her family was what she valued most. Whether you called her Shirley, Mom, Grandma or Gran you always knew you were special and that she loved you. She always had a smile, an encouraging word and a joke or two. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Don and Ida Davis; her husband, Orville Pede; two sisters, Betty Ann Davis and Jill Blazeiko and a grandson, Daniel Grant. She will be deeply missed and leaves behind to celebrate her life her children, Leslie Marples of Red Deer, AB, Don (Dianne) Pede of Edson, AB, Lynda (Duril) Mentanko Yorkton, SK, Gayle (Evan) Evanik of Calgary, AB,  Beth (Ward ) Grant of Edson, AB and their families which include 12 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren as well as a sister, five brothers, other relatives and good friends. Much love until we meet again....A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Deacon Luanne Hrywkiw officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Sing a New Song Unto the Lord" and "You Who Dwell in the Shelter of the Lord". Special music was shared by Shirley's grandsons, Dylan and Steven Evanik who sang, "Plastic Jesus".
