Kristin Olson (1917-2011) peacefully passed away December 5, 2011 in Victoria, BC. Kristin was predeceased by her brothers, Baldur (Helen), Harold (Helga), Max (Mae) and her sister, Margaret Hocking (Terry). Family was always very important to Kristin. She was loved and cherished by her many nieces and nephews in Canada, and her relatives in Iceland. Having not had children of her own, she made a point of generously supporting many national and international charities. Kristin's life was one of a progressive, self reliant and gracious lady. She began her career in 1937 as a teacher in Churchbridge, SK, was in the RCAF (Women's Division) for 3 years, and then resumed teaching in Nanaimo, BC. In the late 1950's, she entered the broadcast industry as a founding partner in CKOS TV in Yorkton, SK, followed by advertising/media sales in Winnipeg. In later years, she worked in an administrative position in the Office of the Registrar at the University of Manitoba, until her retirement. She relocated to Vancouver in early 2000, and recently to Victoria. Kristin enjoyed many life-long friends, traveled extensively, and many of her retirement winters were spent in Hemet, CA with her sister, Margaret, her brothers, and relatives. Our family will miss our special Aunt Kristin, and we are all thankful for the way in which she touched our hearts and lives.
